Gooood morning!! I have shared this breakfast on my Instagram but wanted to write a post to talk a little more about it. I am constantly looking for new ways to enjoy breakfast and incorporate a variety. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals!! Lately, I have been doing raw until noon or 1pm. This mostly consists of smoothies, teas, or fruit.
A fellow vegan friend of mine made me a drink one day and I took that idea and expanded on it. The drink is something like a loaded mocha full of goodies to get the hormones right :-) haha We will get to the candy in a minute. Let's talk about what's in the drink:
Unsweetened Flax milk-High in Omega 3's, dairy free and great source of calcium
cinnamon-anti inflammatory, protects heart health, fights infection, freshens breath
cacao-reduces appetite, antidepressant, tons of essential minerals (magnesium, zinc,
iron etc. )
maca- increases energy, hormone balancing, improves sleep balances mood
ashwaghanda-promotes weight loss, improves thyroid function, stamina, endurance
clove- antifungal, aids in digestion, helps fight gum disease
*ginger-aids in weight loss, relieves stomach issues, fights infection, clears sinuses
maple syrup- numerous antioxidants, lower skin inflammation, improved digestion, zinc, manganese
Allllll of this goodness in one cup!! I have been doing this almost every morning and I typically do not eat until 1 pm. I feel full and do not have a desire to eat much. However, when I pair it with my bowl of goodness I am SET!! You are free to use any plant based milk--flax milk has just become the favorite in our house.
Sooo, y'all know I love dates...we've talked about this, haha! So one day I decided to make a quick "granola" which is also what I use to make crusts for desserts. I also cut up some bananas to put on top and then made a "caramel" sauce...this sauce...Y'ALL! IT IS SOOOO EASY!! Two ingredients, TWO! Only a total of 7 ingredients for this yummy bowl ;-)
Caramel banana bowl
1 medium to large banana
~2 tbsp almond butter
~ 3 tbsp maple syrup
Directions: Add dates and walnuts in a food processor and pulse until well combined. If you do not have a food processor chop them as fine as you can. Layer at the bottom of your bowl.
Cut up banana and layer on top of "granola"
Melt almond butter with maple syrup in a pot, stirring continuously until combined. Remove immediately from heat.
Pour over bananas and top with pumpkin seeds and hemp hearts
1-1/12 cups of unsweetened flax milk (or any plant based milk)
1 tbsp cacao
1 tsp clove
1 tsp ginger
1-1 1/2 tsp maca root powder
1-1 1/2 tsp ashwaghanda
1 - 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Directions: Pour milk in the pot and turn on low.
Add each ingredient and turn up heat to medium/high. Whisk continuously to combine all ingredients until there are no lumps.
Once it's all combined (no lumps) turn off heat.
Pour (add cinnamon stick--optional)
This meal is so satisfying and almost doesn't seem fair because it tastes so good!!!! I hope you give it a try and let me know how it works for you :-)
Eat Well, Live Well, Be well :-)
